Shovels are in the ground for the Ascent Soccer Green School & Academy
For close to a decade, Ascent Soccer has grown its reach, programs and impact -- and in September we're taking that growth one step further with our brand new Green School & Academy.
This campus, opening in early-2024, will be grounded in our ambition to be the greenest sports academy on the continent and a full-time Malawi-based home that will transform football talent, promise and pathways in under-served Southeast Africa.
Our environmentally-friendly 'earthbag' classroom construction is the foundation of our school, with a completed campus that will include:
- 8 Classroom Primary School
- Agricultural Plot & Outdoor Education Area
- Great Hall, Kitchen & Nutrition Centre
- Organic Grass Soccer Fields (2 x 11-aside, 1 x 5-aside)
- Strength & Conditioning Centre
- Team Rooms, Showers & Washrooms
And this 'green build' will also run on renewable energy, rainwater harvesting, water reuse and solar pitch irrigation, alongside site rewilding, nature conservation and agriculture that will anchor our plant-centered academy nutrition program.
With generous donor support already in place for the first two phases of our campus, the momentum will continue and a new beginning is definitely on the horizon for the amazing youth of Southeast Africa.
