International Women's Day & the Girls of Ascent Soccer

On Friday, March 8th, International Women's Day, we had the pleasure of an afternoon visit from British Member of Parliament, Helen Grant.

MP Grant inspired the girls of Ascent Soccer with her own journey and shared that Ascent Soccer is, "...where brilliant young women are showing how education, climate action and sport can challenge norms and transform lives.”

And that transformation is happening all around us!

In February, Victoria (pictured second from right) was named Junior Female Sportswoman of the Year at the Malawi Sports Awards. Since joining Ascent Soccer as an 11 year old, Vicky has gone from strength to strength including captaining the Malawi U15 girls national team.

And on the senior squad, Leticia (pictured far right) was named Malawi's Central Region Women's League Player of the Year -- as she's set to really make her mark on the field and in the classroom, as Ascent first UNICAF university scholar in 2024.
